Safeguarding Policy
How Edfiniti protects the children and young people who use our 11+, GCSE, and India Primary & Secondary platforms.
Last updated: October 2026
If a child is in immediate danger
Call 999. If you're worried about a child's safety but it isn't an emergency, contact your local authority children's social care team, or call the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000. This page explains how to report a concern connected to Edfiniti specifically — it does not replace emergency services.
Our Commitment
Edfiniti is operated by Polygon Ventures Limited ("we", "us", "Edfiniti"). The welfare of every child who uses our platforms is our top priority, and safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone connected to Edfiniti — our staff, our Teacher and Private Tutor account holders, and the parents and guardians who register their children.
This policy sets out how we design our platforms to protect children, how we handle personal data belonging to children, how Teacher and Tutor accounts are expected to behave, and how to report a safeguarding concern. We review this policy at least annually, or sooner if our products, regulation, or good practice guidance changes materially.
Scope
This policy applies across all Edfiniti learner platforms:
- UK 11+ & Primary (Years 3–6)
- UK GCSE (Years 9–11)
- India Primary (Classes 3–6)
- India Secondary (Classes 9–12)
It covers every registered child or young person under 18, their parents and guardians, School Teacher and Private Tutor account holders who connect with students on Edfiniti, and Edfiniti staff and contractors who may access student data or communications in the course of their work.
How We Protect Children by Design
Rather than relying only on policy, we build safeguards directly into the product:
No private messaging between students
Students can connect with classmates as "buddies" to see each other's progress and Honour Wall posts, but Edfiniti does not provide a chat, messaging, or comments feature between students. No typed message can be sent or received between children on the platform.
No real names in the social features
The Honour Wall and buddy system identify children by a self-chosen nickname and avatar, not their real name, school, or any other identifying detail.
Structured, logged classroom sessions
When a Teacher or Tutor runs a live Classwork or Live Class session, it takes place inside Edfiniti's own classroom tools — not a private chat — and is tied to the question content being delivered to the student or class at that moment.
AI-assisted marking, human-reviewable
Written and handwritten work submitted for marking is processed by our AI marking service to generate feedback. Parents and tutors can review every marked answer, question, and explanation from a student's test history at any time.
Age-appropriate content and difficulty
Question difficulty is calibrated to the child's registered year or class group, and adjusts gradually based on performance, so that content stays age- and stage-appropriate.
Data Protection for Children
We collect only the personal data we need to provide the service and to keep a child's account safe — for example, their registered name or nickname, year/class group, school (where provided), and their practice and test history. We do not knowingly collect more than is necessary, and we do not sell children's personal data.
Our processing of children's data is carried out in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the principles of the Information Commissioner's Office's Age Appropriate Design Code ("Children's Code") — including data minimisation, privacy-protective default settings, and not using children's data in ways that are detrimental to their wellbeing.
Full detail on what we collect, why, and your rights over it is set out in our Privacy Policy. A parent or guardian can request a copy of, or the deletion of, their child's data at any time via the Contact Us form.
Teacher & Tutor Accounts
School Teacher and Private Tutor accounts can view the progress, test history, and topic-level performance of students who have linked to them, and can push practice questions directly to a linked student or class.
Linking requires a two-way request
A Teacher or Tutor account does not get access to a student by default. The teacher or tutor shares a unique linkage code with students they already work with; the student (or their parent) enters that code to send a link request, and the teacher or tutor must approve it before any access is granted. A student can also be unlinked at any time.
Expected conduct
Teacher and Tutor account holders are expected to use Edfiniti solely for legitimate teaching purposes, to communicate with students only through Edfiniti's own classroom tools, and to report any safeguarding concern about a student — or about another adult's conduct — immediately using the process below.
Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If you have a concern about a child's welfare connected to Edfiniti — including concerning content, the conduct of a Teacher or Tutor account holder, or a child disclosing something to you through the platform — please tell us straight away.
Contact our safeguarding team
Use our Contact Us form and select a safeguarding-related category, or write to our Designated Safeguarding Lead directly.
To be confirmed by Edfiniti: name and direct contact email of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and, if appointed, a Deputy DSL.
Contact UsEvery concern we receive is reviewed by our safeguarding lead, who will decide on and take appropriate next steps — which may include contacting local authority children's social care, the police, or other statutory services, in line with UK safeguarding practice.
Whistleblowing
If you are a member of staff, Teacher, or Tutor and have a concern you feel unable to raise through the usual channel — including a concern about how Edfiniti itself has handled a safeguarding matter — you can also contact the NSPCC Whistleblowing Advice Line on 0800 028 0285.
Keeping Children Safe at Home
A few simple steps help parents and guardians get the most out of Edfiniti safely:
- Choose a nickname and avatar that doesn't reveal your child's real name, school, or location.
- Keep login details private — don't share a password, and use the one-time passcode login if it's easier to manage.
- Review your child's test history and Honour Wall activity with them from time to time.
- For younger children, consider using Edfiniti together or nearby, especially the first few times.
- If your child tells you something that worries you, or you spot content you think is inappropriate or incorrect, report it via Contact Us — we review every report.
Legal & Regulatory Framework
This policy is informed by, and intended to operate alongside, our other published policies and the following legal and regulatory framework:
- Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Cookie Policy
- UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Information Commissioner's Office Age Appropriate Design Code ("Children's Code")
- Online Safety Act 2023
- Children Act 1989 and Children Act 2004
- Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children — statutory guidance for schools, which we treat as good-practice reference points even though Edfiniti is not itself a school
Where our India Primary and India Secondary platforms are concerned, we apply the same safeguarding principles set out in this policy alongside any applicable local law.
